Goodbye, Twenty Eleven.

Woah, when did it become NYE? What am I going to do? What am I going to wear?

I can only remember was really exciting NYE in my life, and that was spent with one of my best friends from high school, sophomore year of college. We drove around Seattle all night crashing various house parties and ended up at a UW frat. Mostly it was just fun because we were carefree, with no plans and little expectations. Lets be honest, the movie moment NYE scene never happens. Not unless you spend a lot of money and time getting to the "right" place.

My typical NYE include falling asleep on the couch with G and missing the show (2009) standing the freezing cold in downtown Noho waiting for a ball to drop... that never did (2010). This year it at least won't be too cold since it has been an unseasonably warm winter (so far).

This year should prove a little more exciting. First, a look back at wonderful 2011:
NYE 2010

Seattle, January

Sam Adams Brewery, March

Universal Studios, July
Honeydukes, July

Wizarding World of Harry Potter, July

Say Yes to the Dress Austin, August

October snow storm

Thanksgiving Bowl

New pet, Reggie, November

J.Crew for Christmas, December
So what are my plans for tonight? Well a week ago I thought G and I would be curled up on the couch with hot cocoa and a movie. But a couple days ago our friends decided to pull it together and through a party. So we will be donning our best outfits for this black tie party with a bunch of no-tie type of people.

The best thing of all, is that G and I will be getting burgers first. Nothing says fun like trying to eat messy delicious food in uncomfortable formal wear.

Here's hoping the rain stops soon... and HAPPY NEW YEARS!

Happy Birthday to Meee!

Today is the day; I'm 24!

It seems like just yesterday I was getting my driver's license.

I stole this cute photo off of Kate Spade.

I don't really believe in News Years Resolutions, but I do believe in year end goals.

By 25 I hope to:

  1. Learn 5 more recipes
  2. Buy stock in 3 companies
  3. Save more money for a rainy day
  4. Be more open about my feelings
  5. Be more sensitive to others
  6. Plan a killer Jack & Jill party for my bff Sarah and her future hubby

Birthday wish list (because I can dream):

More cardigans (can't. have. enough)

Colorful sandals for all the spring/summer weddings I'm going to...

Stubbs & Wooton custom slippers (from this post)

Tiffany Bow earrings

Short enough, right?

WANT: Cashmere of the Month Club

Perhaps you love looking through the J.Crew catalog as much as I do, or maybe you are lucky enough to have one of their stores close by so you don't need to shop out of the catalog or online.

Several years ago, while flipping through the catalog around the holiday season I noticed they mentioned the Cashmere of the Month Club. The catalog doesn't give any details, but suggests you call them to find out more.

I am a very curious cat.

I got around calling, by talking to one of the wonderful style specialists online.

The Club costs $2000 for the year, with an item for each of the 12 months. Items are handpicked by designers, and are normally a sweater style. When I asked if maybe a scarf or a sweater dress would be thrown into the mix I was told it definitely would be a sweater-style each month.

The sweater items are items normally found for sale through J.Crew, and there would be no "special" items that are Club-only... so you won't be missing any super secret awesome clothes by not joining. When you sign up for the Club you pick a size, and that's what they send you each month.

I imagine if you were a hubby, or loving bf, you would want to make sure you got the right J.Crew size, as the items cannot be exchanged or returned.

So how does the Club compare to buying the items on their own? Considering that J.Crew's cashmere sweaters typically run right around $200, the total bill for 12 of 'em would be right around $2400. By joining the club, you basically get 2 sweaters for free, at the price of choice. If you don't like it, you're stuck with it.

The Verdict:

I think this is a really cool gift idea for those that want to splurge on their sweetheart. I think a better gift just might be a $2000 J.Crew gift card so she can buy the cashmere she wants.

Love: Drop Earrings

Okay, okay I've been really bad at posting these last two weeks. The holidays were just so busy!

I decided to write about my favorite quick dress up trick- drop earrings. They instantly take any look up a notch... okay maybe not any look (I'm looking at you, sweatpants) but most.

Here are a few of my favorite pairs:

These were all by Jennifer Miller, and range in price from $80 to $160. Totally affordable compared to the "real deal", right?

These ones are from my favorite etsy seller, Dana Castle. She makes these by hand in tons of colors. Prices range from $12 to $30, which make even the top ones look super expensive. I wear the pairs I bought from her all the time, they seem to go with everything.

Love, C
